Alan Gordon Celebrating 14 Years at TransCare

Alan 14 yearsAlan Gordon the CEO of TransCare celebrates 14 years at TransCare. It’s interesting listening to his stories on the history of the organisation and how it has grown to be a vital community service provider.

When Alan took over the reins at Upper Hunter Community Care, there were 7 employees providing transport and social services. Alan then decided to transform the organisation – first with the name change to TransCare. TransCare now employs 25 staff and 15 contractors including assistance from about 100 volunteers. TransCare provides over nine key services to individuals and the community in the Upper Hunter and Muswellbrook shires.

“The growth of this organisation since 1988 was brought about by the dedication and commitment by the staff and volunteers in the organisation and TransCare continues to grow due to the demand for community services and of course with the assistance of the local communities as well as the commonwealth and state governments”, explains Alan.

TransCare is grateful to the business community both locally and regionally for their commitment and support and their donations … particularly during the periods of our fund raising activities. The fundamental aim of TransCare Hunter Ltd is to provide services and undertake activities that will assist frail, aged, disabled and otherwise disadvantaged persons residing in the Upper Hunter region to remain independent and in their own residence. This gives our clients a feeling of independence and gives them the support to maintain their dignity.

The outcomes pursued by TransCare Hunter Ltd are:

  • that people who are aged and/or disadvantaged can live independently and with dignity within their community
  • that people who are frail and aged, people who have disabilities and their Carers are appropriately supported where they choose to live in their own homes
  • To provide services in an attempt to directly assist where possible people that are disadvantaged due to poverty, rural and social isolation, sickness, distress and helplessness.

Congratulations Alan – you have given great service to TransCare and the community.
